Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has responded to his exclusion from the 15-member Team India squad announced by the BCCI for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. While pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana were selected for the mega tournament, Siraj did not find a place in the squad. Reacting to the decision, the Hyderabad-born cricketer expressed his disappointment but extended his wholehearted support and best wishes to the team.
Speaking to the media in Indore ahead of the third ODI against New Zealand, Siraj said that playing in a World Cup is a dream for every cricketer and representing the country is a great honor. He acknowledged that the current team is strong and in good form, wishing them success in the tournament. Siraj also highlighted the importance of workload management for fast bowlers, stating that after bowling 40 overs in the Test series against South Africa, he was rested for the previous ODI series. Proper rest, he added, is crucial for maintaining rhythm, focus, and consistency in long formats of the game.
