India and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been traded to Mumbai Indians (MI) for his existing fee of ₹2 crore, marking the first trade of IPL 2026. Thakur was originally signed by LSG as an injury replacement for Mohsin Khan ahead of IPL 2025, where he played 10 matches. Known for his clutch performances, Shardul proved valuable early in the season, taking six wickets in his first two games — including a four-wicket haul against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, his form dipped later, ending the season with 13 wickets from 10 innings at an economy of 11.02.
In his IPL career so far, Shardul has played 105 matches, picking up 107 wickets and scoring 325 runs. He is a two-time IPL champion with Chennai Super Kings (2018 & 2021). Mumbai Indians, known for building strong pace units, will be hoping Shardul’s experience and wicket-taking ability will strengthen their bowling lineup ahead of the next season.
