Indian batting star Virat Kohli continues his remarkable form in international cricket. After a dominant performance against South Africa in the ODI series, Kohli has carried the same momentum into the ongoing series against New Zealand.
During the first ODI at Vadodara, Kohli looked aggressive from the moment he arrived at the crease, taking on the New Zealand bowlers with confidence. In the process, he reached the historic milestone of 28,000 runs in international cricket.
Kohli achieved this landmark in just 624 innings, making him the fastest player in history to do so. He surpassed the long-standing record held by Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, who had reached the milestone in 644 innings.
Only three players in international cricket history have crossed the 28,000-run mark Kohli, Kumar Sangakkara (28,016), and Sachin Tendulkar (34,357). With this achievement, Kohli also moved to second place on the all-time international run-scorers list, overtaking Sangakkara. Tendulkar remains the only player ahead of him.
Kohli reached the milestone during this match when he crossed 42 runs individually. While breaking Sachin’s overall run record may be challenging due to Kohli playing fewer formats, his consistency and dominance continue to set new benchmarks in modern-day cricket.
