Anahat Singh One Win Away From World Junior Squash Crown

Indian squash sensation Anahat Singh is just one victory away from the World Junior Squash Championship title after producing an impressive performance in the semifinal. Anahat defeated Egypt’s Barb Sameh in four games to secure her place in the title clash, achieving a significant milestone for Indian squash. Her run to the final comes more than two decades after Joshna Chinappa reached the championship match in 2005. With the victory, Anahat has underlined her status as one of India’s most promising young squash players and now has an opportunity to add a world junior crown to her growing list of achievements.

Reacting to her semifinal victory, Anahat said she was delighted to finally reach the championship match after previous campaigns ended in the quarterfinals and semifinals. She recalled facing Barb Sameh at the British Junior Open a few months earlier and said that close contest helped her understand the need to raise her level this time. Anahat added that reaching the final has made her parents and coaches proud, but stressed that the tournament is not over yet. She will now face Egypt’s second seed Ruqayya Salem in the final, with the Indian youngster aiming to complete her memorable campaign with the coveted title.
