Abdullah Shafique Rewrites History on West Indies Soil

Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique created history by achieving a rare record that no Pakistani batter had managed in the West Indies for nearly five decades. In the second Test against the Caribbean side, Shafique delivered a brilliant unbeaten knock of 160 runs off 323 balls, including 15 fours and three sixes. His historic innings ended a 49 year wait as he became one of the few Pakistan batters to score 150 or more runs on West Indies soil.

Shafique’s outstanding performance helped Pakistan gain control of the match. In reply to West Indies’ first innings total of 344 runs, Pakistan posted 387 runs to take a crucial lead. Captain Babar Azam provided strong support with a valuable 88 run knock off 147 balls, featuring 10 fours and a six, but narrowly missed a century.

Earlier, West Indies posted a competitive total with half centuries from Justin Greaves (73) and Roston Chase (70). Pakistan spinner Sajid Khan impressed with four wickets, while Mohammad Ali, Ubaid Shah, and Ali Usman picked up two wickets each. However, Abdullah Shafique’s historic unbeaten innings remained the highlight of the match.
