Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Tamil Nadu fishermen in a boat accident at sea. Describing the incident as unfortunate, he said it was particularly distressing that the tragedy occurred amid adverse weather conditions caused by Cyclone Murusu. The Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. During a review of the rescue operations, officials informed him that the boat had washed ashore at Kothapatnam beach in Prakasam district. Of the nine fishermen on board, seven had died, while two others remained missing.
Officials told the Chief Minister that search operations had been underway for the past three days. Chandrababu directed them to intensify efforts to trace the two missing fishermen. He instructed the Coast Guard, Marine Police, local fishing teams and other concerned departments to coordinate their operations. He also directed officials to complete the necessary medical and other formalities promptly and hand over the bodies to the families. Since the deceased fishermen belonged to Tamil Nadu, he asked officials to coordinate with their counterparts in the neighbouring state and make arrangements to transport the bodies to their native places.
