BJP Legislative Council floor leader Somu Veerraju has urged the Central Government to establish a dedicated Palm Board for the welfare of toddy farmers and toddy tappers. During his visit to New Delhi on Thursday, he met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and submitted a memorandum seeking institutional support for the development of the palm sector and improved livelihood opportunities for those dependent on it.
Veerraju said value-added palm products such as palm jaggery, palm candy and Neera have strong potential in both domestic and international markets. Promoting these products would generate employment in rural areas and strengthen the rural economy. He expressed confidence that the Central Government would take a positive decision to support the welfare and long-term development of palm farmers and toddy workers.
