

Polling for assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal continued on Thursday with significant voter participation. In West Bengal, voting is being held across 152 constituencies in the first phase, while Tamil Nadu is witnessing polling in all 234 seats. By 9 AM, Tamil Nadu recorded 17.69% voter turnout, whereas West Bengal registered 18.76% in its first phase. By-elections are also being conducted in Umreth (Gujarat) and Baramati and Rahuri (Maharashtra). Several prominent personalities exercised their franchise during the early hours of voting.
In Tamil Nadu, former Union Minister P. Chidambaram cast his vote in Sivaganga. BJP leader Khushbu and actress Trisha also participated in voting. TVK chief and actor Vijay voted in Chennai and is contesting from Tiruchirappalli East and Perambur constituencies. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, along with his wife Durga Stalin and son Udhayanidhi Stalin, cast their votes in Chennai. Actors Vikram and Dhruv Vikram, MNM chief Kamal Haasan and his daughter Shruti Haasan, and superstar Rajinikanth also voted in Chennai. Actor Ajith voted in Tiruvanmiyur, Chennai, amid media reports about his post-election comments, which were later clarified by his manager as misinterpreted.
