Artists from Rajasthan’s Mewar region have created a specially designed turban as a gift for Captain Smith Machar, who reportedly thwarted an attempt to bring down a Flydubai aircraft and helped save the lives of its passengers. The turban features saffron and blue colours, each carrying a symbolic meaning. Saffron represents the courage and bravery associated with Rajasthan, while blue symbolises the sky. The artists have also incorporated the number 174 on the front of the turban to represent the number of passengers aboard the Flydubai flight during the reported incident.
The word “Courage” has been placed beneath the number to honour the captain’s bravery. Udaipur-based artists Jinesh and Jayant Kothari said they spent four to five days crafting the special turban. They explained that the design was created as a tribute to the captain’s reported actions during the emergency. The artists have also written to the Prime Minister’s Office, seeking assistance in delivering the handcrafted gift to Captain Smith Machar. The turban is intended as a gesture of appreciation for his courage and the lives reportedly saved during the incident.
