Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) legal head Ratna Singh has questioned the court's decision to send party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka back to judicial custody, describing it as an unjustified restriction on their liberty. Speaking to the Press Trust of India (PTI) in New Delhi, Singh said the defence had presented its arguments as the leaders' earlier custody period came to an end. She alleged that the public prosecutor had failed to adequately counter the defence's submissions and had made claims without a sound basis. According to Singh, the two leaders had already spent five days in jail, raising questions about the need for further custody.
Singh also argued that the leaders should not have been returned to custody merely because verification of their sureties was still pending. Describing the decision as a failure of the justice system, she said the party would challenge the order before a higher court. According to PTI, the court extended their custody by two days. Singh's comments represent the defence's position in the matter; the court's decision remains part of the ongoing legal proceedings. The outcome will depend on further judicial consideration of the case.
