Tamil Nadu Assembly: CM Vijay Targets DMK

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay launched a sharp attack on the opposition DMK in the state Assembly, alleging that government contractors were forced to pay bribes in instalments, similar to paying EMIs on bank loans. Vijay said he was making the allegations based on details cited in documents of the Enforcement Directorate and claimed that the collections amounted to around 7.5% to 10% of the contract value. He alleged that the money was collected in the name of party funds and that senior DMK leaders, including MK Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin, were direct beneficiaries.

Vijay also referred to the term “Karur gang” allegedly used in an ED report while targeting former minister V Senthil Balaji. He alleged that political leaders collected money from bar owners in Karur, Coimbatore and other districts and described Senthil Balaji as being at the centre of an organised corruption network. DMK members strongly protested the remarks near the Speaker’s podium and later walked out of the Assembly. Udhayanidhi Stalin rejected Vijay’s allegations, accusing him of attempting to divert public attention instead of addressing issues raised by the Opposition.
