Supreme Court to Hear Danam Nagender’s Plea

Danam Nagender has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Telangana High Court’s order disqualifying him as the MLA from Khairatabad. The plea has been taken up by a CJI-led bench, which indicated that the matter would be heard on Wednesday. The High Court had earlier set aside the Speaker’s decision and declared the Khairatabad Assembly seat vacant.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Danam Nagender, reportedly sought an urgent hearing, citing the possibility of a by-election notification for the vacant seat. The respondent’s counsel sought a later date for the hearing. After considering the submissions, the CJI-led bench said the matter would be taken up on Wednesday.
