Air pollution levels in the national capital have reached alarming levels ahead of the Diwali festival. The air quality in 16 locations, including IIT Delhi, reportedly entered the 'Severe' category, with several areas recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) above 400. Delhi's average AQI stood at 369 on Saturday, indicating worsening pollution across the city.
The situation is expected to deteriorate further on November 8 and 9, raising concerns among residents ahead of the festive celebrations. Vehicle emissions and the burning of crop residue have been identified as major contributors to the rising pollution levels. The deteriorating air quality has once again highlighted the need for effective measures to control pollution in the capital.
