Congress workers from the Manthani constituency have approached Gandhi Bhavan to challenge the suspension of three party members and seek the withdrawal of the disciplinary action. The controversy reportedly began after the workers attended a programme organised by the Visakha Charitable Trust at Koyyuru village in Malhar mandal, where school bags were distributed to underprivileged children. The event was attended by MP Vamshi Krishna, alongside the three suspended workers — two tribal members and one minority community member. Those suspended include Koyyuru Deputy Sarpanch, a ward member and a former co-option member.
In a representation to the PCC Disciplinary Committee, the workers questioned the fairness of suspending them merely for attending an event alongside a Congress MP. They alleged that the action was taken on the instructions of Minister Sridhar Babu and urged the committee to reconsider the decision. The workers stated that they remained committed to the party's ideology and continued to fight for public issues. They also warned that the suspension could politically benefit rival parties and requested the leadership to revoke the action.
