Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is reportedly set to appear in a major promotional advertisement aimed at taking the state government's welfare schemes closer to the public. While governments generally appoint brand ambassadors or rope in film celebrities for such campaigns, the TVK government is said to have chosen Vijay himself for the initiative. Star filmmaker Gautham Menon has reportedly been brought on board to direct the advertisement, which is expected to be made on a grand scale with a substantial budget, reportedly matching the production standards of a film.
However, the shoot may not begin immediately, considering Vijay's responsibilities as both Chief Minister and TVK chief. Reports suggest that filming could take place after the upcoming by-elections. By-elections were recently held in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies among seven vacant Assembly seats, with the TVK securing victories in both. Polls are still pending in Tiruchirappalli East, Perundurai, Ambasamudram, Viralimalai and Karur, and the Election Commission is reportedly preparing to conduct them after Diwali. News of the proposed advertisement has already generated excitement among Vijay's fans. His last film, Jana Nayagan, is yet to be released following his entry into public office.
