The Supreme Court has granted major relief to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in the coal block allocation case. The apex court quashed the trial court summons issued in 2015 and ordered the closure of the criminal proceedings against him. The verdict, delivered by a Bench led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI), effectively brings an end to the legal case against the former Prime Minister.
The case pertained to allegations linked to coal block allocations and had remained under judicial scrutiny for several years. By setting aside the 2015 summons and closing the criminal case, the Supreme Court has concluded the proceedings against Dr. Manmohan Singh. The ruling is being viewed as a significant development in one of India's high-profile legal and political cases.
