The political atmosphere in Tamil Nadu has heated up after the announcement of Assembly elections. The ruling alliance led by M. K. Stalin has finalized seat sharing with its partners, including Indian National Congress, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India (Marxist). The announcement of candidates has further intensified the election buzz.
Out of 234 total seats, 70 have been allocated to alliance partners. Congress will contest 28 seats, DMDK 10 seats, VCK 8 seats and both CPI and CPM 5 seats each. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will contest the remaining 164 seats. This strategy reflects Stalin’s approach to balance party strength while keeping allies satisfied.
A major highlight is the entry of former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who will contest on behalf of the DMK. His participation has become a key talking point in Tamil Nadu politics. With candidates announced and campaigns underway, the alliance is aiming to return to power in the upcoming elections scheduled for April 23.
