Ramchander Rao Targets Revanth Reddy Over Youth Promises

Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s proposal to reduce the minimum age for contesting elections from 25 to 21, describing it as an attempt to divert attention from what he called the Congress government’s failure to fulfil promises made to students and youth. Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, Rao alleged that around ₹12,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues affecting nearly 20 lakh students remained unpaid. He also questioned the status of promises such as two lakh government jobs, ₹4,000 monthly unemployment allowance, Vidya Bharosa cards, free scooters for girl students, a Youth Commission and employment support initiatives. These figures and allegations were presented by Rao and would require confirmation from official government data.

Rao further argued that if Congress was genuinely committed to promoting young leadership, it should demonstrate that commitment within the party and the state government. He suggested handing over the education portfolio to a young Congress MLA such as Yashaswini Reddy and criticised the condition of government universities, citing alleged shortages of funds and teaching staff. Claiming that the government had failed students and unemployed youth, Rao demanded that Revanth Reddy take moral responsibility for the education portfolio and resign from that responsibility.
