Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has warned that an “economic storm” is approaching the country, expressing concern over rising inflation and policy decisions of the central government. Addressing a public meeting in Bachhrawan in his constituency, he criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not following his own calls for austerity, pointing out that while citizens are advised to cut down on expenses, the Prime Minister continues international visits. Rahul stated that inflation would continue to rise until there is a change in the current government and cautioned about a looming global crisis involving shortages of oil and fertilizers, which could significantly impact common citizens.
He further alleged that the burden of the crisis would fall on farmers, youth, small traders, and small industries, while large industrialists would remain unaffected. Rahul also made sharp remarks about India’s foreign relations and leadership decisions. Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the government over rising fuel prices, accusing it of burdening the public while favoring select industrialists. He added that the government has failed in its economic policies and lacks long-term vision.
