The Telangana movement was not a sudden emotional reaction but the result of decades of demands related to water, funds, employment opportunities, self governance, and regional identity. Critics argue that the formation of Telangana was achieved through the sacrifices and struggles of students, employees, farmers, artists, intellectuals, and various social groups over several decades. They maintain that portraying the state's formation as a political mistake ignores the historical context and the aspirations of millions of people.
Political observers have also criticized recent remarks made by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan regarding Telangana. They argue that reducing a mass movement to personal opinions or emotions undermines the sacrifices made during the struggle. They point out that since the formation of Telangana, people from Andhra and Rayalaseema have continued to live, work, and do business peacefully in Hyderabad and other parts of the state.
Critics further state that Pawan Kalyan should focus on issues related to Andhra Pradesh, including unemployment, farmers' welfare, Amaravati development, and promises made to the people. While acknowledging his democratic right to contest elections in Telangana, they emphasize that public support is earned through performance, accountability, and consistent political commitment rather than controversial statements.
