Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations has stated that more than 1,330 civilians, including around 300 children, have been killed within eight days of attacks allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory. Addressing the UN, the envoy described the strikes as unprovoked and said the attacks have resulted in heavy civilian casualties across several regions of the country.
According to the Iran Red Crescent, the strikes have caused widespread destruction, targeting 7,943 houses, 1,617 commercial establishments, 32 health centres, and 65 schools. One of the deadliest incidents reportedly occurred on February 28, the first day of the conflict, when an airstrike hit a school in Iran, killing 165 people, many of them schoolgirls. Iranian officials claim the attacks are part of a broader military pressure campaign aimed at forcing the country to surrender.
