MLA Kadiyam Srihari stated that he welcomes the verdict delivered by the Assembly Speaker. He said that the petitions filed against them are not legally valid. According to the rules, a show-cause notice must be issued if there is a case of party defection. However, he pointed out that he had not received any show-cause notice from the party. He also questioned former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) as to why the BRS party had not filed a petition in this matter.
Srihari also recalled that they had requested time in the Assembly, stating that they were a group of 38 members. He mentioned that ₹5 from their salaries is being deposited every month to the BRS Legislature Party (BRSLP) and in that sense, they are still part of the BRS. He clarified that although they are currently distant from the party leadership, they continue to work for the welfare of the people.
He further questioned whether it was not the BRS leadership itself that had encouraged party defections in the past. Srihari pointed out that those who switched parties earlier were even given ministerial positions. Addressing KCR, he alleged that the real architects behind encouraging party defections were none other than the BRS leadership itself.
