Quality Education for Police Children Is Key to Staff Welfare - DGP CV Anand

Telangana DGP CV Anand said quality education for the children of police personnel is an important part of staff welfare and helps them perform their duties more effectively. He laid the foundation stone for Academic Block-I of the Young India Police School (YIPS) at the OCTOPUS Greyhounds campus in Manchirevula. The school was established following the Chief Minister’s directions in December 2024 and is being developed on national and international standards similar to Army and Sainik schools. Started with 120 students in a temporary campus last April, YIPS now has around 360 students, with the number expected to reach 700–720 after the new building is completed.

DGP Anand said YIPS will focus not only on academics but also on discipline, sports and co-curricular activities. Students will receive training in cricket, rock climbing, horse riding and other adventure activities, while being encouraged to stay away from drugs and unhealthy influences. Children of police personnel and home guards will be eligible to study at the school, while 50% of seats will be reserved for general students at affordable fees. The government plans to develop YIPS as a full-fledged school offering education up to Plus Two on a single campus. Anand directed officials to complete the construction and development works quickly, with the goal of turning YIPS into a high-standard educational institution over the next two to three years.
