The BRICS Summit is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcoming all participating leaders and delegates. Modi said that as BRICS completes two decades, member countries must assure their people of a stronger and more prosperous future. He stressed that mutual cooperation should drive development and that the grouping must contribute to resolving global challenges, with human development remaining at the centre of every step.
The summit also approved the Delhi Declaration unanimously. The declaration highlights key areas including opposition to unilateral wars, preference for dialogue and diplomacy, greater use of local currencies, reforms in global governance institutions, and stronger economic and strategic cooperation among BRICS nations. The consensus on the joint declaration reflects India's diplomatic efforts to build common ground among member countries.
