A major boost for Andhra Pradesh’s capital Amaravati — global tech giant Microsoft has officially received approval to launch operations in the upcoming Quantum Valley, set to open in January next year. Microsoft will establish a 1200-qubit quantum computing center in Amaravati, with an investment of ₹1,772 crore. The facility will span 4,000 sq. ft. and is expected to create 1,500 new jobs in the initial phase, providing major opportunities for local IT graduates. This marks a significant step towards making Amaravati a global technology hub. The initiative, first announced by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, has now started attracting multiple international investors.
Along with Microsoft, several leading companies are showing interest:
Fujitsu (Japan): Setting up a 64-qubit quantum computer.
Central Government: Planning to establish a semiconductor fabrication facility.
Google: Exploring collaboration opportunities within the Quantum Valley ecosystem.
Experts believe this development will place Amaravati firmly on the global tech innovation map, driving high-end research, data computing, and employment within Andhra Pradesh.
