BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing them of failing to ensure the procurement of farmers’ produce. He alleged that the Centre had failed to facilitate cotton procurement through the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), while the Telangana government had not ensured the procurement of paddy and soybean through public sector agencies. Addressing the BRS Rythu Garjana meeting at the DIET grounds in Adilabad on Sunday night, KTR accused both leaders of failing to fulfil their promises of financial assistance to the public and farmers. He said Telangana had emerged as a major agricultural state during the ten-year BRS regime, citing the implementation of Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima schemes. He also recalled that ₹73,000 crore had been credited to the accounts of 70 lakh farmers under Rythu Bandhu during the previous government.
KTR further alleged that the Congress government had failed to provide adequate irrigation water and electricity to farmers. He criticised the government over the utilisation of Godavari waters and claimed that water was flowing into the sea while the Palamuru region continued to face irrigation challenges. He also accused the government of avoiding its responsibilities by citing the El Niño phenomenon. KTR said farmers should remain patient and predicted that the BRS would return to power after a year. He warned that his party would organise meetings across Telangana and launch protests if the government failed to release Rythu Bandhu funds. Earlier, during visits to Neradigonda and Talamadugu mandals, KTR provided financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each to the families of four farmers who died by suicide and ₹1 lakh each to the families of five children who died in an air-conditioning accident at RIMS Hospital. He also welcomed former NSUI state president Bhargav Deshpande, who recently resigned from the Congress, into the BRS.
