Negotiations between Iran and the United States aimed at easing tensions and ending the ongoing conflict have reportedly intensified, with Iranian state media claiming that both nations are discussing a proposed 60-day ceasefire agreement. Reports suggest the draft deal includes reopening the strategically important Strait of Hormuz for 60 days and temporarily halting Iran’s nuclear activities as part of broader de-escalation efforts.
According to Iranian media, Tehran has also agreed to remove naval mines placed in the Strait of Hormuz, while the United States is expected to ease restrictions on Iranian ports and oil exports. The proposed agreement reportedly includes mutual assurances that neither the US and its allies nor Iran would launch attacks against each other during the ceasefire period. Reports also indicate that discussions include the possible release of nearly 6 billion dollars in frozen Iranian assets held in Qatar and efforts toward a ceasefire in Lebanon. However, official confirmation from both governments is still awaited.
