Valmiki Scam Case: B Nagendra Ready to Step Down as Minister

Karnataka Minister B Nagendra has reportedly offered to resign from the state Cabinet amid renewed political pressure over the alleged irregularities in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation. Sources said Nagendra conveyed his decision to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, stating that he does not want the controversy to cause embarrassment to the Congress party. The alleged case involves the diversion of around Rs 89.63 crore through fraudulent banking transactions.

Nagendra had earlier resigned from the Cabinet in 2024 amid the controversy and was later re-inducted into the government. He has reportedly expressed confidence that he will clear his name through the legal process and return to the Cabinet afterward. Meanwhile, the BJP has intensified its campaign demanding his removal and has staged protests over the issue. The final decision on Nagendra’s resignation is expected after discussions between Shivakumar and the Congress high command.
