Former Chief Minister YS Jagan and his YCP ecosystem have been attempting to undermine the significance of Google’s investment in Andhra Pradesh. Ever since the Andhra Pradesh government signed the agreement with Google to establish a data center in Vizag, the YCP camp has been critical of the initiative.
The controversy reached a peak when Jagan addressed the media, implying that he was the one who initiated and conceptualized the project.
Jagan claimed that the Adani data center in Vizag was first conceptualized during his tenure as Chief Minister and credited Adani for the Google data center, suggesting that he was instrumental in bringing the company to Andhra Pradesh.
However, the facts tell a different story. The previous TDP government had already signed agreements and initiated the Adani data center project in Vizag back in January 2019—well before the YCP came to power. Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu even participated in the ground-breaking ceremony for the Adani center.
Ironically, it was the YCP government that caused delays in the establishment of the Adani center by rejecting long-term plans in favor of short-term gains. And yet, Jagan now seeks credit for the Vizag data center.
