CPI leader K. Narayana has criticised the alleged obstruction of opposition candidates from filing nominations, describing it as an infringement of democratic rights. He demanded an unconditional apology from the TDP-led alliance over the issue. Narayana emphasised that every political party and candidate should have a fair opportunity to contest elections. Preventing political opponents from entering the electoral process, he said, goes against the spirit of democracy and undermines the principle of equal participation. He stressed that political parties must respect democratic norms and ensure that candidates are allowed to exercise their electoral rights without obstruction.
Referring to the Supreme Court's intervention, Narayana said the court had provided an opportunity for nominations to be filed in constituencies where candidates had been unable to contest. He argued that respecting the people's mandate is more important than preventing political rivals from participating in elections. Highlighting the need to safeguard democratic rights and ensure fair electoral competition, the CPI leader reiterated that the TDP-led alliance should apologise unconditionally to the public for the alleged obstruction of the nomination process.
