Indian badminton star P. V. Sindhu advanced to the second round of the French Open after a thrilling three-game victory over Thailand’s Supanida Katethong in the women’s singles opening round. Sindhu won 21–14, 8–21, 23–21 in a closely contested match. After taking the opening game, she struggled in the second and lost it convincingly, raising concerns about an early exit similar to her campaign at the Denmark Open. However, Sindhu staged a strong comeback in the deciding game to seal the match.
In another women’s singles match, India’s Unnati Hooda fought hard before losing 18–21, 21–12, 17–21 to Japan’s Riko Gunji. In the men’s singles, Ayush Shetty defeated fellow Indian Kidambi Srikanth 19–21, 21–16, 21–12 to progress to the next round. Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen conceded a walkover to his opponent, ending his participation in the match without taking the court.
