Public representatives from the Palamuru region have urged Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy to stop the proposed diversion of water from Palamuru to the Dindi project. Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, MP Mallu Ravi, local MLAs, Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Jana Reddy and other leaders met Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday. During the meeting, which lasted around an hour and a half, they explained their concerns regarding the potential impact of the proposed water diversion on the region.
The representatives requested that water be supplied to the Dindi project through an alternative route instead of drawing it from Edula. They clarified that they were not opposed to providing water to the Dindi project but warned that diverting water from Edula could affect irrigation in the Palamuru ayacut. Uttam Kumar Reddy assured them that he would discuss the issue with officials and work towards a mutually acceptable decision.
