

A tragic development has shaken Andhra Pradesh politics as former Eluru MLA, minister and Deputy Chief Minister Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas, popularly known as Alla Nani, passed away. He reportedly died of a heart attack in Visakhapatnam. His demise has cast a pall of gloom across Eluru district, with political leaders, followers and supporters expressing shock and grief over his death.
Alla Nani won the Eluru Assembly seat on a Congress ticket in 2004 and 2009. He later joined the YSR Congress Party and won from Eluru in the 2019 elections. During the tenure of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, he served as the Minister for Health and Medical Services and also held the post of Deputy Chief Minister. A prominent figure in state politics, Alla Nani had recently joined the Telugu Desam Party.
