In the context of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the ruling DMK has released a special manifesto focused on the development of Chennai city. The manifesto, titled ‘Super Six’, was unveiled by party president and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Sunday at the Anna Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters in Chennai.
The manifesto includes key initiatives such as providing RO water and Metro Water supply to areas without drinking water connections, along with ensuring uninterrupted water supply to apartment complexes. It also proposes the introduction of 1,000 new mini buses to connect every street in the city with bus stops, metro stations and suburban railway stations. An AI-based traffic management system will be implemented to reduce congestion and improve travel time efficiency.
Additionally, the plan aims to complete 10 major infrastructure projects, including the Chennai border road from Ennore to Poonjeri, by 2027. Metro rail expansion works are targeted for completion by 2028. The construction of underground drainage, sewage systems and stormwater drains is also planned to be completed by 2027. Furthermore, a Global Centre of Excellence with an investment of Rs. 10,000 crore will be established for AI, animation, visual effects, gaming and immersive technologies.
