Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has criticised the Congress and its allies, stating that democracy does not give anyone a licence to create chaos in the country. Speaking at a media interaction in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, he accused opposition parties of using young people for political purposes instead of encouraging them to contribute constructively to national development. Singh alleged that opposition leaders were drawing inspiration from the political transition in Bangladesh and seeking a similar change of government in India. He also claimed that protests over the electoral system and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were being used to target democratic institutions. These remarks came amid continuing political disagreements over the electoral revision process and opposition demonstrations.
Singh also referred to the Supreme Court's observations regarding an opposition rally, emphasising the importance of respecting the law and maintaining public order. He urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to respect the people's electoral mandate and reflect on his role in politics. Meanwhile, actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut also responded to the opposition's protests and remarks about changing the government. She shared an old video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he emphasised that creating disorder during elections would not help someone become Prime Minister and that winning people's trust was essential. Her response added to the political exchange between the ruling party and the opposition.
