Swiss technology company Logitech has begun assembling personal work solutions products, including computer mice and webcams, in Manesar, Haryana, marking a step forward in its strategy to diversify manufacturing beyond China. The move reflects the company’s efforts to strengthen its presence in India, a growing market for both business and consumer products. According to Delphine Donné, Logitech’s vice president and general manager of Personal Work Solutions, local manufacturing will help the company serve customers more efficiently, reduce transportation time and build a stronger domestic supply chain. India is now the company’s seventh manufacturing location.
Logitech plans to begin with product assembly and gradually explore opportunities to expand component manufacturing through local partners. The company will focus on developing its partners’ technical capabilities through knowledge sharing, training and quality-control processes. Logitech also operates a research and development centre in Chennai, which employs more than 500 people and works on areas including data analytics, software and hardware development. The company says more than 80 per cent of its products are made using recycled plastic, and products assembled in India will be required to meet its global quality and sustainability standards.
