YSRCP Announces Mayor Candidates for Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has finalised its mayoral candidates for Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram. MLC Varudu Kalyani has been selected to contest for the mayor’s post in Visakhapatnam, while Kolagatla Sravani will be the party’s candidate in Vizianagaram. Sravani is the daughter of former MLA and minister Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy. She previously served as a corporator and deputy mayor of Vizianagaram. Kalyani was elected to the Legislative Council in 2021 and currently serves as the state president of the YSRCP women’s wing. Her MLC tenure is due to end next year.

The party has also announced candidates for municipal posts in Kadapa district. Bandi Deepti has been nominated for the Kadapa mayoral post, while Y.S. Pramilamma and Marujolla Kavitha have been named for the chairperson posts in Pulivendula and Kamalapuram, respectively. The party has reportedly nearly finalised Poreddy Narasimha Reddy for the Proddatur chairperson post, though an official announcement is still awaited. No candidates have been announced yet for Kurnool and Nandyal districts. The nomination process began on October 16, with October 18 set as the last date for filing nominations.
