The Rouse Avenue Court on Friday heard a revision petition filed against Sonia Gandhi regarding allegations of her inclusion in the voter list before acquiring Indian citizenship. During the proceedings, the court directed both parties to submit their written arguments within one week. It also allowed relevant documents from the Election Commission of India to be placed on record for further examination.
The petitioner has requested a police investigation into the matter, claiming that Sonia Gandhi’s name appeared in the 1980 voter list, whereas she reportedly obtained Indian citizenship only in 1983. The court took note of the submissions and scheduled the next hearing for May 16. The case continues to draw attention as it involves significant legal and political implications.
