Telangana is currently represented by seven members in the Rajya Sabha. Among them, four belong to the BRS party and three are from the Congress party. After the previous Assembly elections, two Rajya Sabha seats linked to Congress became vacant. Renuka Chowdhury and Anil Kumar Yadav were elected to the Rajya Sabha from the Congress party. Later, BRS leader Keshava Rao joined Congress and resigned from his Rajya Sabha position. The vacant seat was then allotted to Singhvi, which increased Congress representation from the state to three members.
Meanwhile, the terms of BRS member KR Suresh Reddy and Congress member Singhvi will end on April 9 this year. Elections are currently being held for these two seats. In the latest election, Singhvi and Vem Narender Reddy are expected to be elected, which will increase Congress strength from Telangana in the Rajya Sabha to four members.
After the completion of Suresh Reddy’s term, BRS will continue to be represented by Parthasaradhi Reddy, Damodar Rao, and Vaddiraju Ravichandra in the Rajya Sabha. The terms of Parthasaradhi Reddy and Damodar Rao will continue until June 21, 2028, while Vaddiraju Ravichandra will remain a member until February 19, 2030.
