Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s convoy was allegedly attacked in Kerala’s Malappuram district on Friday night, creating tension during the election campaign. Tharoor had arrived in Wandoor as part of his campaign activities when a group of individuals on motorcycles intercepted his convoy. The attackers reportedly used abusive language and attempted to target the MP, leading to a brief moment of chaos at the scene.
However, the situation was brought under control as Tharoor’s gunman intervened and prevented the attackers from reaching him. In the scuffle, the assailants reportedly turned their aggression towards the security personnel. Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged with the police by Tharoor’s gunman. Authorities are expected to investigate the matter further, while the incident has raised concerns over the safety of political leaders during campaign events.
