Nominations for the Telangana Panchayat elections are gaining momentum, with polling set to take place in three phases on December 11, 14, and 19. Even though these are not party- or agenda-based elections, the potential for influence has prompted political parties to roll out preemptive strategies. BRS leaders are spotlighting critical issues such as farmers' woes, crop challenges, and the 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme during their village tours. The ruling Congress, meanwhile, has launched the 'Indiramma Cheeralu' distribution drive to woo women voters.
In this backdrop, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has kicked off a district tour from December 2 to 9. While it's framed around the party's two years in power, the itinerary includes meetings and gatherings in Mahabubnagar, Khammam, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Narsampet, Devarakonda, and Hyderabad. The tour won't reach gram panchayats and will remain confined to cities and municipalities. BRS leaders are branding it a covert ploy to sway the panchayat elections.
