Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has written to Union Ministers Manohar Lal Khattar and G. Kishan Reddy, urging the Centre to grant early approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II expansion and expedite the process of transferring Metro Phase-I to the Telangana government. In his letters, the Chief Minister recalled the key decisions taken during high-level meetings held on June 23 and 24, 2026, where both governments agreed to appoint SBI CAPS as the nodal agency to undertake asset valuation of Metro Phase-I, refinance high-interest loans, and prepare a long-term financial strategy for the Phase-II project.
Revanth Reddy expressed concern over the delay in finalising the Terms of Reference (ToR) and formally appointing SBI CAPS, stating that the hold-up is affecting the day-to-day management of Metro Phase-I and delaying approvals for Phase-II DPRs and financial mobilisation. He warned that prolonged delays could escalate project costs and postpone implementation. Stressing that the Metro Phase-II expansion is crucial for Hyderabad's future public transport needs, the Chief Minister requested the Union Ministers to personally intervene and ensure the immediate appointment of SBI CAPS so that both the takeover of Metro Phase-I and the Phase-II expansion can proceed without further delay.
