The CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam has made history by becoming India’s first-ever Zero-Waste Event. Every bit of waste generated during the summit is being reused or recycled, ensuring that nothing ends up in landfills or pollutes the environment. With nearly 3,000 delegates from India and abroad, the summit focuses on attracting major investments and creating new employment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. The event is jointly organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), and the Swachh Andhra Corporation.
To achieve its zero-waste goal, special composting units and waste segregation counters have been set up, along with partnerships with authorized recyclers. Plastic use is completely prohibited. Instead, biodegradable utensils, glass and clay containers, and reusable serving materials are being used. Banners are made of cloth or displayed digitally, while QR codes replace printed materials to minimize paper waste.
The initiative highlights responsible event management at a national scale, promoting sustainability, public health, and environmental awareness. Driven by the vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu under programs like Swachh Andhra and Swarna Andhra, this event follows a circular economy approach, ensuring all materials are reused or recycled.
The Vizag CII Summit stands as an inspiring example for cities and organizations across India, proving that sustainability and growth can go hand in hand, bringing the nation closer to its environmental and economic goals.
