Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma stated that the Women’s Reservation Bill introduced by the central government under the leadership of Narendra Modi marks a new era in women’s empowerment. He expressed confidence that the bill will receive widespread support in Parliament and will significantly transform the social and political future of women in India.
The minister recalled that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act was passed unanimously in 2023 and said that the government has now removed delays in its implementation. He announced that there is no need to wait until 2033, as the government has decided to implement 33% reservations for women starting from 2029, calling it a historic step forward.
He further noted that women across the country are eagerly following the developments in Parliament, reflecting their strong aspirations for greater representation. Responding to opposition concerns, he stated that doubts regarding the delimitation process are unnecessary, as it has not yet begun, and assured that it will be conducted constitutionally. He urged all political parties to support the bill beyond political differences.
