Neeta Dadwe Named India Women’s Kabaddi Head Coach

Former Indian star kabaddi player Neeta Dadwe of South Central Railway has been appointed head coach of the Indian women’s kabaddi team for the upcoming Asian Games. The Games will be held in Aichi Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, with kabaddi competitions scheduled from September 21 to 26. Neeta, who works as a Chief Office Superintendent at South Central Railway in Secunderabad, previously coached the Indian women’s team that won gold at the 2014 Asian Games. Under her guidance, India also secured gold at the 2016 South Asian Games.

As a player, Neeta trained under South Central Railway coach Dhanam Reddy and represented the Indian Railways team for 14 years. She served as captain for eight years and helped the team win several national championship titles. She received the Arjuna Award from the Government of India in 1996 and retired from playing in 2004 before beginning her coaching career in 2011. The 54 year old coach expressed confidence that India will maintain its dominance in kabaddi and return with a gold medal. The national team is currently attending a camp in Ballari.
