In a major blow to Maoist insurgency in Chhattisgarh, 15 Maoists—including five women—have surrendered to Sukma district police under the leadership of SP Kiran Chahna. The surrender marks a significant victory for the state administration in its continued campaign against left-wing extremism. Authorities confirmed that all 15 individuals laid down their arms peacefully and opted to rejoin mainstream society.
A hefty reward of ₹48 lakh was announced in connection with their surrender, underscoring the seriousness with which the police had been pursuing these militants. The decision of these cadres to give up the path of violence will bolster Chhattisgarh’s anti-insurgency efforts and is likely to encourage further surrenders, sending a strong message to other Maoist operatives in the region.
