Eyewear brand Lenskart is facing intense criticism on social media over a viral document allegedly outlining its “staff uniform and grooming guide.” The document sparked controversy for reportedly restricting Hindu symbols such as bindis and tilaks while permitting religious attire like hijabs and turbans. The issue has triggered widespread debate, with netizens accusing the company of promoting religious bias through its internal guidelines.
Responding to the backlash, Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal clarified on social media platform X that the circulating document is outdated and does not reflect the company’s current policies. He emphasized that employees are free to wear bindis or tilaks and apologized for the confusion caused. The company reiterated its commitment to inclusivity and respect for all cultural practices.
