Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for what he described as “toxic and repeated remarks” against Telangana. He demanded that Tejasvi Surya immediately withdraw his controversial statements and apologize to the people of Telangana. The minister emphasized that the formation of Telangana was the result of prolonged public struggle and extensive consultations during the United Progressive Alliance government, reflecting the aspirations of millions.
He further condemned statements made in Parliament that allegedly insulted Telangana’s sentiments, calling comparisons between the Andhra-Telangana bifurcation and the Partition of India historically inaccurate and misleading. Raising concerns over delimitation, he noted that southern states may face injustice and called for a detailed national discussion instead of divisive comments. He also questioned the silence of BJP leaders from Telangana and criticized remarks made by Amit Shah regarding poet Gaddar. Prabhakar warned that any attempt to insult Telangana’s dignity would not be tolerated and demanded an immediate apology.
