The suspense over Bihar’s next Chief Minister is expected to end today. Incumbent CM Nitish Kumar is likely to announce his resignation during a cabinet meeting scheduled at 11 AM and subsequently submit his resignation to the Governor. Preparations are underway for the formation of a BJP-led government in the state for the first time.
With NDA holding a strong majority of 202 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, government formation appears smooth. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is widely seen as the frontrunner for the CM post, while Union Minister Nityanand Rai’s name is also in circulation. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant may be included in the new cabinet.
