TRAI has proposed the introduction of recharge plans focused exclusively on calls and SMS services, specifically designed for mobile users who do not require data services. Noting that data-centric plans currently dominate the market, TRAI stated that these new plans would be particularly beneficial for consumers who utilize only voice and messaging services.
In this regard, TRAI has released the draft of the Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation-2026. The authority will accept suggestions from the public regarding these proposals until April 28. TRAI announced that these measures have been undertaken with the objective of introducing new plans that align with the specific needs of consumers.
